Expressions of interest for Australia-China workshop on international student management and services

AEI China and the Chinese Ministry of Education will host a joint-workshop on International Student Management and Services on 26th-28th October 2008 in Shanghai. The Workshop’s draft agenda, focuses on both the policies underpinning Australia’s management of international students and the practical aspects of administering international student programs within institutions. Over 100 attendees from Chinese universities and central and provincial government education authorities are expected, along with at least 30 from Australian education providers, researchers and policy makers. The workshop will immediately follow the Shanghai leg of the CIEET Autumn exhibition, scheduled for the weekend of 25th-26th October.

AEI China is seeking Expressions of Interest from those interested in presenting at this important Workshop in the following areas (case studies are welcomed):

• Australia’s research on management and service of international students (history, research on specific topics and case studies)
• State and/or Local Government policies and experience in the management of international students
• policies and practices in the management and service of international students – from the perspective of peak bodies and education providers from all sectors
• policies and practices in the academic management of international students
• crisis management of international students (including emergency management, psychological crisis countermeasures, dealing with complaints etc) and
• international student services (including accommodation, insurance, medical treatment, life, part-time jobs).  

AEI China will support speakers (but not other participants) by providing economy class return airfares to Shanghai and covering accommodation costs in Shanghai. Individuals interested in participating in the conference, but not speaking may also register their interest.
